Tenafly takes pride in its community offering various holiday celebrations from the annual holiday parade in December followed by cookies and cocoa and caroling in the park.The annual Independence Day celebration at Roosevelt Common includes carnival games, rides, amusements, food, drinks, face painting, pony rides and much more. Fourth of July fireworks and concert are held at the high school. Among the sites preserved are the Tenafly Railroad Station in Town Center, The Elizabeth Cady Stanton House on Highwood Ave, the Roelof Westervelt House on Westervelt Avenue, the Christie Parsels House on Jefferson Avenue, the Sickles-Melbourne House on Knoll Road, the Demarest-Lyle House on West Clinton Avenue, the Theodore Roosevelt Monument at the Roosevelt Common,the Palisades on the Hudson River and the Cotswold Mansion, Carriage House and Entrance Gate.In addition, in order to preserve the architectural and historic significance of the street scapes, Atwood's Highwood Park and Magnolia Avenue were designated as residential historic districts.
