Marcel Breuer "Caesar Cottage" on Lakeville Lake The original cottage was designed by world renowned architect and furniture designer, Marcel Breuer for the Caesar Family from New York in 1952; it was a modern open concept right at the water's edge. The modest cottage contained a living room with a sculptural fireplace of hammered concrete and cylindrical flues, a dining room, kitchen and bathroom. The living room must have doubled as sleeping quarters as no bedroom is indicated on the plan. The later addition of two rooms on the first floor and finally a second story was done keeping Breuer's aesthetic in mind. The original walnut flooring, wood paneled ceiling and fireplace are all original to Breuer and remain. A wall of windows overlooks the porch which projects beyond the lake-side. There are now three bedrooms and two full baths and a wonderful office/reading area on the second floor with large window framing the lake and hills beyond.
