Hunter's paradise and homesteader's dream with power, high speed internet, septic originally designed for a two-unit and a 400’ deep well. A mix of wooded and open areas situated on a small mountaintop. This property is the very last house on a private dead end.
The floors downstairs are concrete, aside from the bathroom, upstairs is wood. A master bath with dual showerheads each with separate heat controls is getting the finishing touches right now. The kitchen has a massive custom-cut stainless-steel countertop with a one-piece/bent backsplash and drip edge that is a foot wider and three inches higher than the standard, that’s big enough to process game, cover with baked goods, and even has my grandmother’s original flour bin drawer installed from their old farmhouse kitchen. The custom cupboards are incredibly deep on the bottom due to the wide countertop, and the top cupboards reach to the ceiling with little cubbies with flip up doors up top for extensive pantry space. A true farmhouse kitchen gem!
A 5-stall barn is situated directly across the house. The barn has underground electricity, water, and ethernet installed. A large shed/outbuilding is to the right of the house. Both sides of the home have overhangs; a utility room entrance is under the overhang on the left side. A secondary door to enter the garage is located under the right overhang, and we use that area for firewood as well. The right-side overhang holds enough firewood for an average Maine winter. The property has plenty of firewood on site.
Secondary heat source/cooling via heat pump installed two years ago. The slab also has radiant that is not currently in use (we prefer wood). We have been evaluated for solar and told this house has a perfect facing. We can include the solar audit if interested. Fresh insulation blown in the attic last year.
The connected garage is a ‘drive-through’ with garage doors on either end. We currently use it as a (cluttered) shop—photos to follow. The plan was to replace the back-facing garage door, install windows there, and divide it to make another large bedroom.
I think the biggest perk of this property is the combination of extreme privacy and the short drive to all the modern things you want and need. Grocery stores, dozens of date-night restaurants, and hip downtown Bangor bars are all 15-20 minutes away. The Bangor Int’l Airport is 20 minutes away. Walmart and sporting goods stores are there for the things you forgot. There are nearby marinas, a casino/concerts, and less than an hour to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.
Deer and turkey are daily sightings here. I get my deer every year on opening day and the turkey wander around like they own the place. I often spook partridge (caught one hen on a nest of 8 eggs recently), see several snowshoe hare daily, and woodcock call every night all summer. We also have red fox, gray fox, bobcat and coyote.
And did I mention there are NO mosquitos here? And rarely blackflies, only after a wet spell. Enjoy basking in the sun and enjoying s’mores by the firepit out front without swatting bugs off the whole time.
There are rock walls as boundaries and neatly cleared walking paths in the woods—some wide enough for a truck. I still discover a new boulder laying on the ledge now and then left behind by ancient glaciers. This property has, by far, the best mushroom foraging and hunting I’ve seen as a life-long Mainer. I’d even show you my secret spots!
So what are you waiting for? Call or text me at 207-745-8821 and come see the place. It’s truly one-of-a-kind and the photos of the property can’t fully capture the true beauty.
