    What's special

Welcome to 13652 Hiddenhollow Lane LO7568050 You're gonna love this home--just like families have for the pastcentury! From the 45' long front porch, you enter the circa 1850 original portionof this colonial home. You will step onto custom milled tongue and groovesolid white oak in 4", 6" and 8" widths that has been refinished. All ofthe extra wide baseboard and window trim is custom. The window trim inparticular was copied from an old Virginia home. Up the turned staircase (or winders) you have a spacious bedroom withcathedral ceiling and four cottage-casement windows that capture wonderfulcountry breezes. Note the unique structure of the floor right next to thestaircase--it is hinged for added convenience when moving in or out! Theentire side wall has been fitted as a closet. The basic structure of this part of the home is chestnut post and beamconstruction with horizontal bracing. The original pole rafters andmetal roof have been replaced with a conventional roof and sheathing. Thesiding is western red cedar. In the basement of the original portion of the home you will find theoriginal floor joists of round logs with the top adzed off flat and anewly pointed field stone foundation. The foam insulation featured on"This Old House" was applied between the joists. The original windowswere replaced and storm windows added throughout. The post and beam addition was designed by Bar Harbor, Maine architectTed Boardman. The four-story frame is constructed of Southern Yellow Pineand features 7" x 9" posts and 7" x 11" beams as well as a timberedceiling. When the last joint of the frame was completed we placed a newpenny in the joint and hung a pine bough from the rafter as a tribute (atraditional way of celebrating the raising of a post and beam frame). The light fixtures in the hall and stairwell were custom made by atinsmith in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The flooring in the addition isSouthern Yellow Pine from Richmond and has been refinished. The panelingin the hall was milled from a 24" diameter pine log. A ship lap joint anddecorative 3/8" bead detailing were added. The kitchen has custom cabinets with granite countertops and a maplebutcher-block with an under-mount stainless steel sink and newer faucet.A glass tile backsplash has just been added. The base cabinets have fourlarge pullout trays-- no bending down to reach back into the cabinets! The upper cabinets all have glass paned doors and custom trim. The newerappliances feature an upgraded stainless steel GE gas range and anupgraded stainless steel refrigerator with bottom freezer. The lightingconsists of new bronze halogen fixtures with dimmer and a six-lightchandelier. Many of the doors in the addition are custom with forged HL and Hhinges. One of the upstairs bedrooms has four large windows, one with awindow seat looking over the trees and field. The bath has a custom vanity with a granite top and under-mount sink, anoversized 5 1/2' porcelain bathtub, linen closet with a laundry chute tothe basement and an exposed brick wall. Once again, note the wonderfulexposed beams! Off the kitchen a spacious 10'+ x 24' back porch is shaded by a largetree and is very private...a wonderful place to entertain or simply enjoybreakfast in your pajamas! Additionally, there is an original stone wallthat borders part of the property and completes the feeling of yesteryear. The walkout, daylight basement in the addition, has three windows and alaundry area, plus room for an office or workshop or gym. The washer anddryer will convey. The 1.38 acres offer a private setting, but within easy reach of the MARCcommuter trains or the Dulles Greenway. There are no HOA fees orrestrictions. With all the shade trees, you'll be amazed at thetemperature difference out here in the summer! Recent Upgrades include: Hardi-plank siding on the addition All the railing on the front and back porches 30-year roof on the whole house Standing seam metal roof on the front porch 2-Zone HVAC system- First Floor - Heat p
