Live in an apartment within a big old warm and friendly 1920s home on a quiet street right next to Mt. Tabor Park! Room is available Feb 1. Also note the room is being renovated right now with new wood laminate flooring so the photo of the room IS AI, to give a better idea of what it will look like, but we are not spam, I promise! The room will be done with renovations the last week of January but I'm happy to show it in its current state in the process. The community includes 5 rooms and one office space in the main house and a separate cottage. Folks here are relatively independent (house meetings usually only happen once every few months when we need to decide on something together), but we share a value of kindness, consideration, and having a sense of humor. Many residents over the years have been creative professionals or creative by hobby, sometimes international, sometimes local, with a lot of diversity in age, culture, and life experience. But one thing that we all share in common is a value of being kind and also of being conscientious. Community expectations are minimal but important: Everyone has about 45min chores/wk (you get to choose your chore and don't have to rotate unless you want to) and participation in house meetings and house decisions via email are also required when it comes up (which isn't often). The house and grounds have had a lot of love and care put into making them beautiful, and there is a lot of shared commonspace. The house actually used to be a speakeasy, and it has a lot of charm, furnished with antiques and art, and kept pretty clean (sometimes cluttered, but still clean!). The first floor has a beautiful shared kitchen with lots of cabinet space, a breakfast room, a classy dining room, a living room with a fireplace and baby grand piano, and a covered back patio. All rooms (and fireplace and piano) are shared! We have a large front and back yard with a giant sequoia, a rose garden, a hot tub, and a firepit. The room being rented is big and has its own bathroom with tub, as well as its own kitchen and extra storage space. Couples and pets are welcome! We're walking distance from the Hawthorne area and New Seasons, close to buses 15, 14, 71, 4, and 20, and we are a 20 minute walk from bus 19 and the max or you can take bus 71 there). Also biking distance from Providence Hospital and Reed College. Mt. Tabor park is a big woodsy park on an extinct volcano, with 3 open reservoirs, a gorgeous view of the city, concerts and events in the summer, and lots of rec facilities (tennis & basketball courts, swing-sets, big dog park, hiking trails, etc.). We welcome folks of all cultures, races, genders, orientations, etc! Couples welcome! Pets ok :) Cost to move in is first month's rent and a 500 security deposit, and utilities are split and calculated at the end of the month, with wifi and washer/dryer included!
