The Area/Neighborhood:
Anacostia is a quickly gentrifying neighborhood. Construction is occurring all around, and new shops and restaurants are expected to open in the coming year - including a Starbucks a couple blocks from this apartment. Its the next "hot spot" in DC. Within a few minutes walk of this house are several restaurants (Busboys and Poets, Cajun Chicken place, Mamas Pizza, Anacostia Arts Center Cafe), and the famous Busboys and Poets is due to open soon. Its a happening area but still in the midst of transition. Diverse, thats a great word for Anacostia.
The apartment is about a 10 min walk from the Anacostia metro stop. Anacostia metro is on the green line, 1 stop away from Navy Yard, 3 stops from l'Enfant Plaza and 5 stops from Chinatown. A trip to the center of DC takes less than 15 min.
Driving is also very convenient from this location. I295 will take you to the the Beltway in 15 min, to Alexandria in 20 min or to New York Ave in 10 min using I395. Navy Yard is one metro stop or a 5 min drive away. Enjoy a Baseball game at the Nationals Park or stroll around the modern Yards Park.
