    What's special

Our home is built to welcome a family. The living area consists of dining/family room/kitchen--all open to each other. Down the hall are two bedrooms (one is currently my office) and a bath that was updated in the fall of 2018. Where the single-car garage once existed (when we purchased the property in 2001) there is now a master bedroom suite with 3/4 bath and a window seat with cedar-lined storage, which is currently used to hold off-season clothing, blankets, extra luggage, and memorabilia. Our basement was partially refinished to provide play space for the kids, plus a wired office for working from home. Downstairs is also home to a large unfinished laundry room, which is where the hot water heater (replaced early 2018) is located, and another unfinished room, which is used as a workshop and workout area; that room also has an egress window, which we had installed shortly after we moved in (the window was replaced in 2018). Over the years we have replaced the roof, replaced most of the windows, added a double wall oven, and replaced the old vinyl and carpet throughout the house with tile, carpet, and bamboo flooring (full disclosure: the master bedroom needs another new carpet). A few years ago we had two sides of the home re-sided, down to the studs; in 2018 the other two sides were refinished and the entire home was sanded and painted. Also in 2018, a new sliding glass door was installed, as was a new dishwasher. We've added a large shed, plus a wood shed since we purchased the property; the roofing on the larger shed was replaced in 2018. Our yard is partially fenced with privacy cedar. We had an underground fence professionally installed in 2017 to keep our dogs in the yard. Four maples and a few bushes at the front of the house were all that existed when we purchased the home. We have since added fruit trees--two peaches, four apples, and two pears--and several blueberry bushes. We also added an enormous pine tree, lilacs, forsythia, a dogwood, and a beautiful Japanese Maple, which greets visitors at the front of the home. There are several perennial gardens that we've added over the years. While the home has the original electric heat, we primarily heat with compressed wood bricks, which the Henniker Farm Store delivers and stacks in our shed. Cordwood can also be stacked in the three-sided woodshed. This has been a great neighborhood in which to raise a family, and is a great place to live. We are moving to downsize.
