Colonial Style Built in 1885 era. 10 foot ceilings, big rooms, tons of upgrades. Neighborhood Description Pocahontas was a stop on the stagecoach route. Then it was a stop in the early train days. There is currently a history center and Museum located on the grounds of the Indian Mounds. A portion of the Burial Mound is located in the yard of this home. Most of the homes are late 1800, early 1900 era. The house listed here was at one time the Pocahontas School ( part of the Hinds County Schools), then it became Pocahontas Boys Academy. In the 1940's the home was made into a dwelling. Pocahontas had a post office until 2000. When the post office closed the address was changed to Flora.
