Room details
We're looking for one reliable, conscientious, and sociable roommate to fill a room of a 3BR apartment on a quiet, dead-end street in Somerville. The apartment is available June 1st, and we are looking for someone to stay at least a year.
Nature: Our neighborhood is peaceful and quiet with beautiful trees that flower in the early spring. The downstairs neighbors maintain some greenery by the front porch. There is no road noise due to the lack of thru-traffic, and our neighbors are all quiet. Behind the apartment is a sunny, East-facing porch that overlooks some other nearby apartments and gives a nice view of the trees in three seasons.
Nearby: We are a 10-minute walk from Winter Hill, the Gilman Square T stop, and the Somerville Community Path. Nearby grocery stores include Market Basket (just over the hill) and Stop & Shop (5-minute drive / 15 minute walk). It's also a very short drive to I-93 in case you need to get out of the city.
Amenities: The apartment has a spacious living room and kitchen, modern appliances, 1.5 bathrooms, free in-unit laundry, and gas heating (radiators). Shared storage is available in the basement; each unit gets their own space.
Parking: Parking here is very easy. We share three off-street parking spots with our downstairs neighbors and coordinate with each other to get in and out. Additionally, permit parking is available on our street and nearby streets. Bikers can lock up to any of several road signs that line the street or store a bike in our basement, which is accessible from the driveway through a locked door and down a few stairs.
Money: The rent is $950, paid monthly and directly to the landlord, with the option to save $50/month by using autopay. Utilities are typically lower in the summer and higher in the winter, averaging $146 per month per person. That includes, gas, electricity, and shared internet.
Accessibility: This room is on the third floor of a triple-decker, so entering the apartment requires climbing some stairs on the front porch and then two flights of stairs inside. Stairs are also required to enter the basement. There are no elevators or wheelchair-accessible ramps.
Please respond with your name, some information about yourself like your job and interests, what you liked about the listing, and any questions you have. If we think you're a good fit, you'll hear back from us. If the listing is up, the apartment is still available.
The lease term is 11 or 12 months, since our landlord may be shifting the start-date of the lease term for next year, but it will start on June 1st. No smoking.
