The builder of this place is a genius artist who worked in concrete and rebar. He incorporated century old beams that he salvaged from other projects and acid washed the concrete floors so that they look like something between hardwood and granite. To simply call it cool or artistic would understate his work. If it weren't for Covid, I would just hold an open house as I love showing off Ira's work.
Owner pays for water sewer & garbage while the tenant pays for electricity, cable & internet. Pets are ok. Smoking is not allowed. The current tenants are relocating for work and wanting to have someone take over their lease which will then revert to the new tenant on June 1st with no increase in rent.
In the 15 years I have had rentals, I have only once raised rents on a tenant. I gave them a good deal as they were starting college and kept the rent flat throughout college and graduate school. Once they were employed and their income exceeded mine, I gave them 6 month notice that I would reset the rent to market rate. Until Seattle passes rent control, I don't suspect I will change this policy. If the city does pass rent control, I won't have authority to make those decisions, so...
