I'll be honest: We wouldn't have purchased our new home if it wasn't for the service of Stanley Martin - and the value they provided throughout the entire process. From the incentives to the communication, everything was top-notch. From the moment we arrived with our realtor to tour some model homes to present day, communication, friendliness, and professionalism has been great. The construction manager maintains an open line of communication and the sales team in the office are always there to answer questions, even after purchase. Oh, and the house is FANTASTIC.

Although the overall customer experience was very painful and difficult and not customer friendly at all, it was not because of the employees but how the corporate office won’t let people buy lots in advance and choose a specific floor plan and build to order. We had to refresh the website very day for 6 months to see if our lot was available! That is unacceptable! The employees at Stanely Martin that helped us are the only reason we would recommend SM. Debra was good and John the foreman was phenomenal. He saved the whole experience and ensured we got a quality product.

Overall we love our new home and there is nothing majorly wrong. But one of the biggest issues that we had is the lack of communication from the Stanley Martin team to us after we put down our deposit. We asked numerous times for updates on closing dates and very rarely received a response. When we did receive a response it was over 3 weeks after the last email and over a month from the initial email. Finally, when we did get an update regarding our closing date, it was sent very last minute and said we have to close on a specific date and there was no option to move the date or reschedule (this was in all capital letters, bolded, underlined, and highlighted). We did not feel like this was very fair to us, as we had to move around our work schedules and our daughters daycare to make this work with very minimal notice. When we did our final walkthrough one week prior to closing, we were not allowed to blue tape any of the issues that we noticed, as we were told they would do it for us after we left. This led to multiple of the issues we noticed not being corrected once we got to the walkthrough on the day of closing, and some issues we were told "There is nothing that we can do" mainly in response to a gap of light that is in the attic where the wall comes together. . Even now, as we are over 1.5 months into our house, there are still items from our walkthrough that were supposed to be corrected and have not been. Overall we are satisfied with our home. But I would say that our experience with the Stanley Martin team and the project managers during our walkthroughs was less than satisfactory.
