In late 2007, my husband and I purchased 76 acres of grown up undeveloped farmland in central North Carolina. Over the past decade, we have molded the property into our dream home and the best place to raise our family. With the close proximity to the Dan River and Hanging Rock State Park... there is always plenty of adventure, no matter the season. Once we purchased the undeveloped land, I knew I had the chance of a lifetime to design our dream home. After finalizing my drawings, I worked with an architect who drew up the plans up for the builder. My entire goal was to make the MOST of the amazing panoramic mountain view and unique picturesque sunsets. Built upon a knoll in the small historical town and county seat of Danbury, NC... this farmhouse style home overlooks the Sauratown Mountain range of Hanging Rock State Park. As this is state owned park land, you can count on that view never changing to become a housing development! We hired a local artisan cabinet maker to handcraft our kitchen cabinets and the upstairs bath cabinets. We hired a local stone mason to do the rock work on the foundation, basement wall, retaining wall, and the porch piers. I selected antique seeded glass to be custom cut and placed in the panes of the cabinet door. The kitchen granite 'Delicatus' was personally selected out of hundreds of slabs, to be just the right coloration to tie in visually with the double copper sink, cabinets and floor. We had the pond built in 2013. It can be used for fishing... or swimming, or just relaxing on a float. The numerous windows of the home allow natural light to come in and gives a glimpse of the view from every angle. The farmhouse style home has a 1365 sq. ft wrap around porch. This home is more than just a 'house on 76 acres', this is a relaxed lifestyle full of endless possibilities. We have built and maintained miles of hiking, horse riding and ATV trails on the property, for full recreational enjoyment and exercise. Perfect also for mountain biking! Our property is also a hunter's paradise with an abundance of wild game! In addition, every summer, wild blackberries are plentiful for the picking. With the fall comes persimmons and wild muscadine grapes. Wildlife also call this property home, from white tail deer, to wild turkeys, rabbits, blue herons, raccoons, squirrels and so much more. A winding farm style gravel drive complements the rural farm location. At over a half a mile long, children have a safe place to play and you will have complete privacy. Our property is just a quick five minute drive to the Dan River, popular for kayaking, tubing and fishing. This property includes a river front double lot, complete with a river rock fire pit, steps to get in and out of the river, a wooden swing overlooking the river, a wooden picnic table, charcoal grill and gate. A great place to grill a steak, roast marshmallows, relax in a hammock and then pitch a tent after kayaking or tubing the Dan River! There also is a 'MAN CAVE', fully equipped with a stove, fridge, heating and air, running water, that is part of our barn. You can spend your leisure time gem mining as well, as we also have discovered garnets on our property. In addition, we have quite a few streams that cross our property for exploring. There are multiple buildable spots on the property, both open and wooded. The basement is used as a game room and exercise room. We are located in the middle of 'nowhere', yet can be in Winston Salem, Greensboro, or to the highway in about 35 minutes. The Piedmont Triad International Airport is an easy 45 minute drive.
