Neighborhood Description The South Wayne neighborhood was added to the National Register of Historic places in 1992. Many of the homes were built by Wildwood Builders and designed by notable local--and female!--architect Joel Ninde, who was married to Lee Ninde the founder of Wildwood Builders. Joel Ninde was a self-taught architect. The Historic South Wayne Neighborhood has an active neighborhood association and the people who live here are passionate about their older homes. The neighbors here are warm, friendly and welcoming. People often stroll through the neighborhood in the evenings, walking their dogs, pushing babies in strollers or on route to Lutheran Park where there is a play fountain. In the summer time, many neighborhood children and their parents can be seen sitting by or running through the refreshing waters of the fountain. The Historic South Wayne neighborhood offers many amenities: We are within walking distance of Foster Park and the River Greenway, Packard Park, Zesto Ice Cream Stand, Munchie Emporium, and several coffee shops.
