The architectural history of this stunning space has been lovingly maintained and restored since its construction in 1914 as a church. From the 1950s until now, it has been a quiet living space for families and artists, appearing in Life and Home and Garden Magazines. The "little church on the hill" is being upgraded with new appliances and kitchen and is fully furnished, yet has room and flexibility for your belongings. The church sits on 1.5 acres of forested land, with seating outdoors and room to explore. In the Woodstock area, you will find a great many beautiful walks, vistas, lakes and streams. Deer and birds are frequent visitors to our woods, which abuts an old cemetery and an organic farm. At the same time, the nearest gas and groceries are less than 10 minutes away, and access to Kingston for larger purchases, 20 minutes away. The space has a soaring great room with 20-foot cathedral ceilings. We are installing a full, newly upgraded kitchen (due February), a woodburning stove, and an amazing carved Indonesian teak bed, which can be used for sleeping or as a lounging area. Above the kitchen is a loft for TV, study, or sleep. The great room is framed by original stained glass windows and soaring picture windows that provide natural light and a view of woods outside. Fantastic acoustics create a wonderful space to make or listen to music. The living room provides a spot for reading, relaxing and watching the wood burning stove for hours. Climb an old-fashioned spiral staircase to a small room above with two windows that is perfect for a child or an office. The former Sunday School is now a bedroom with a Queen bed and closet, private access to the bathroom, and its door next to the front entrance for quiet and privacy. For comfort, the home has a newly installed well-water filtration and heating system, great heat, and a strong internet connection. As mentioned above, the kitchen will be entirely new, shower and bathroom are updated. The furniture is simple, beautiful, and functional, with a new couch, brand new beds, and other antique furniture from the area newly purchased.
