Family-oriented neighborhood, space between homes, but a great place to raise children. Fishing in the pond during warm weather and if the temp stays cold enough the children skate on the pond in winter. The school bus picks up and returns children within the neighborhood at several convenient locations. Very few parcels of land left. Town Zoning and Association rules maintain minimum acreage and house size. New house plans must be approved by the Association Board. Very peaceful and quiet, yet 10 minutes into town (still a nice old fashioned town, with fantastic restaurants!). Commute to Newport is 10 - 15 minutes depending on where; to Raytheon in Protsmouth 30 min. and to Providence 45 minutes and Boston 1 hour 15 -45 minutes, again depending where. People are friendly, but respectful of each other's privacy. Neighbors are considerate and the neighborhood is peaceful. We have a volunteer fire department and rescue squad and they are terrific. The local police department is also first rate, though serious crime is not an issue, the police here keep it that way. We would definitely move here again and plan to do so even if we sell our house!
