Calling nature enthusiasts and campers! Here's a chance to own a rare piece of Makanda history. These 2 parcels are southeast of the Makanda Boardwalk (see the Jackson County Tax Assessor's Map in the photos). The SE edge of the larger parcel (056) crosses over Rocky Top Road and the northern-most edge butts up to Baptist Hill Road. The Church Lot parcel (036), which is just southeast of the other, was once the home of Rock Hill Baptist Church founded in 1871. It sat up on the bluff above the Methodist Church in downtown Makanda. Giant rectangular boulders still sit on the property and give a rough outline of where the church may have stood. An easement that is approximately 17 feet wide and 295 feet long separates the parcels end extends from Rocky Top Road to the eastern edge of the Church Lot. The seller will be inserting fence posts soon to indicate property boundaries, but these will NOT be exact.
