This cabin is serviced by an outhouse just 2 dozen steps away, WITH an ocean view, of course! 2) The Main House (poised on a 50-foot bluff looking out over Kupreanoff Straits) is 30X40, with a half-loft bedroom (King bed or separate into 2 twins) above the open kitchen/dining/living area & an addition on the East side that includes a mud room, pantry & 1/2 bathroom with regular flush toilet. 3) The Eagle's Nest is also perched on the bluff, with views of the Straits that will knock your socks off. Downstairs is a 1/2 bathroom with regular flush toilet & sink, a futon bed/couch, dining table, hanging space & coffee bar. Upstairs are four twin beds decked out with homemade quilts & afghans. 4) The Loon's Nest is a small, warm & dry creekside cabin with bunks for 2 people & shelving for storage. For the last couple springs I have used this cabin as a seed starting room because it is so well insulated our plants get a good, early jump on the growing season. + 5) The Treehouse is a cozy little dwelling with views of the ocean out one window & the mountain/forest out the other window. Fully wired with electricity & a propane heater, this quaint pad has a twin bed downstairs & room for a sleeping pad or storage in its half loft. Additional outbuilding are: 6) Workshop/garage is 12X24, with virtually every tool you might need for living & working on the homestead. 7) Previously mentioned Boathouse is where we butcher/package deer/fish, store the fishing/kayaking equipment, camping gear, arts-n-craft supplies, etc. 8) The Bathhouse is the center of camp & holds the washer/propane drier, chest freezer, large pantry, vanity sink area & shower, PLUSH our dressing room & "Banya" (traditional Alaskan wood-fired sauna). Roasting you body at the end of the day's chores or adventures, then running to jump in the 38-degree crystal-clear spring-fed creek is incredibly rejuvenating, & has even been called a Fountain of Youth by previous guests. 9) The HydroPower Shed is the heart of the homestead, as it harnessed a small percentage of the sweet, clean spring water that comes out of the 2445-foot granite mountain which stands guard over camp. This system not only provides drinking & bathing water to most of the buildings, it also utilizes a hydro-electric system to give clean, "free" electricity to all of our structures!! The 5Kw Northern Lights generator at one end of the Bathhouse has only gotten a few hours of use in the last 10 years because the hydro system is so efficient & economical, not to mention Quiet!! UPDATE 6/23: We’ve just wrapped up replumbing the entire bottom half of the waterline with new pipe, plus installing all new pipe/fittings around the turbine, so the system should be virtually bulletproof for another 15 years or better!
