I felt that Veridian did a great job overall. The sales representative we had Todd was very flexible with our difficult schedule and was always so responsive all throughout the process. Todd showed great knowledge over the end product and if he didn't know an answer to a question you were confident he would follow up with someone who was. I will emphasize we asked ALOT of questions and Todd was always patient and the questions appeared well received. Our design representative Micaella was also very helpful and accommodating as my wife was not able to join our design meeting in person, via Facetime. She gave her opinion at the right times which aided our decision-making which we very much appreciated. Attending a design meeting for a house via Facetime is not ideal so the fact that we have moved into our new house and feel our design choices were made within our vision is another testament to the great job she did leading us through that process. She also helped to make changes after the meeting and was very responsive and eager to help. One part of the process which we had reservations with was the build, which in a home is quite a large part. Our biggest concerns throughout that process was not even how the build was coming for the most part, it was that we were not kept well informed which was an ask we had as we lived out of state and could not track the process without assistance from the Veridian team. Our project manager did not seem very prepared and while I understand there are likely numerous houses he is charge of I would expect he come to meetings prepared and with our build plans which a couple times he said he left in the truck and wasn't sure about the answer to our question and would have to get back to us. There were also a few times where I had to reach out to schedule meetings that were supposed to be happening. Further, there were a few instances where we made upgrades that were not prepared in the scope of the plans, or were just not completed. Some of which we are still waiting to be completed. Also, we were informed that we should have a 30 day walkthrough after moving in, which still has not occurred and we are closer to 60 days than 30 at this point. In terms of quality, I will say overall it is good. There are definitely some things where you can tell were hastily completed, albeit some are in the unfinished areas like the basement and garage. For example, drywall is not cut along a linear plane and there are gaps between the drywall pieces. Other examples in finished areas were crack in the sink of the owners bath, paint dried on floors all over (which comes off easily but requires getting down on your hands and knees to pick them all off which to this day are still doing), crack in owners bath shower tile, wrong gauge wire used in garage outlets, drywall had a large mark that was noted for fix before we moved in but wasn't caught, vent on roof sliding out of place exposing insulation, after warranty replacement of sink the counter is peeling away from wall, and lights flicker when stove or refrigerator kick in. Lastly, one thing I will note is that the basement seems to be a bit of an afterthought and things are placed for convenience instead of thought through where it would make the most sense for the use of the space. For example, our water heater and furnace are in one area, our electric panel is in another, and there is a backflow valve in another. If we are to ever finish this space we are going to have to get very creative on how to do it without revising a significant portion of the basement layout which is expensive. This is not something we would have ever considered as first time home buyers and builders, this is something Veridian does everyday that I would have hoped to have been discussed. Maybe it is required how things are laid out, I suspect not entirely, but this is something I would highly suggest future homebuyers consider and Veridian take into account where these items are going to be laid as people likely do expect to finish these spaces in the future. All in all, we had a good experience with Veridian and would consider building another home with them in the future. There are things we learned in the process and things that you just need to understand are not going to be 100% satisfaction but that does not mean it was a negative experience. They have a product and they do it effectively and efficiently. They also have a well thought out and crafted process that allows for things to be streamlined and on-time.

Overall building experience was below expectations. This was our 2nd build with Veridian and unfortunately a lot of mistakes were made throughout the building process and corrections are now falling on us after close. We felt ignored on some of our concerns and Veridian lacked communication during the build, not one question back to us during the entire building process. They appeared to push forward with consulting us homeowners and did not follow the specs/blueprints on numerous locations. Our personal home builder seemed unaware of what we were putting in our home and struggled at times during walkthroughs to have an understanding of what was going where. Veridian has acknowledged expectations were not met and have attempted to understand and correct the underlying issues going forward for future homeowners.

I would think a company with 20 plus years experience would be capable of framing a home with square corners, hang drywall straight and install trim straight with square corners, but I was wrong. No QC check to verify the framers installed the studs square, so the drywall was not square resulting in the trim bowing throughout the house. Each step should have been QC'ed after framing to check for square, after drywall to check for square which would result in a square base for trim, which would then be square. Veridian failed all three. I flagged the trim on the 30-day punch list and the trim vendor stated there is nothing he can do as the drywall is off due to the framing . One window had to be replaced due to a scratch or micro fracture. The HVAC crew connected the AC condensate drain to the furnace plug and the water leaked out of the furnace onto the floor. The shower door glass leaked and had to be patched. That didn't hold so now they have to remove and reinstall the shower door. A floor tile plank had to be replaced and several fireplace tiles were scratched and had to be replaced. i can accept the above as the items have been, or can be repaired. What is unacceptable is the trim not being square throughout the home.
