The layout of the unit was great; a nice price for 2 bedrooms, in my opinion. The apartment is in an area familiar to me, which I was excited about, and a safe area at that. It is supposedly a smoke-free establishment, which I appreciated, though I did see a gentleman with a cigar inside the building. I couldn't smell any smoke in the building or unit, though. The manager/owner seemed extremely kind. Honestly, I would have seriously considered the place if the rest of it hadn't been so completely filthy and in need of lots of TLC. Dirt and filth everywhere; it's obvious the halls are not swept and not painted; I had to duck my head to avoid cobwebs heading down to see the storage space in the basement. I ultimately decided I could never store anything down there, however, because the dead-bug-littered basement smelled heavily of must. In the unit, there were fixtures that were missing light-bulbs (so I couldn't turn on lights to adequately see the rooms); there were gouges out of counter tops; the water took a long time to actually stop running when I turned it off; the drawers in the bathroom, when pulled out, seemed too weak to bear anything; there were hard water stains in sinks; there was an odd stain on the living room ceiling; some of the laundry machines were broken, etc. From the outside, many windows on the apartment buildings needed to be painted and were missing shutters. Like I said, it could have been a really great place for me if it was actually cleaned and maintained. I was disappointed to see how poorly cared for these apartments are.
