The historic Gehring House, built in 1896, is entering the last phases of construction on nine apartments. The newly renovated apartments feature historic woodwork, refinished original wood flooring, and modern kitchen amenities. The restored windows bring in abundant natural light. Many apartments feature historic fireplaces, though they are decorative and non-operable. The apartments abut trails for walking, biking, and skiing, as well as being a short walk from the downtown and schools. One-year leases are available. Full-time residency is required. The Gehring House apartments are in the final stages of construction. Due to the historic nature of the building, each apartment is different. The included pictures give an indication of the specifications and finishes that can be expected throughout the building. The Gehring House is located in the heart of the town of Bethel. It is within short walking distance of Crescent Park Elementary School, Gould Academy, and the Bethel Family Health Center. It's also a short walk to downtown Main St., which has the post office, a grocery store, the Maine Mineral and Gem Museum, Gemini Cafe, and several other restaurants, stores, and a bank. It is also a short walk to The Gem Theater and Davis Park, which has a bike/walk pathway that connects all the way the Mahoosuc Land Trust's Valentine Farm. Mt. Abram and Sunday River ski resorts are both just a 15-minute drive. Right behind the house, walkers, runners, mountain bikers, and Nordic skiers can access Inland Woods + Trails' vast downtown trail system via the Bingham Extension Trail. Apartments Include Heat: The building is heated with an efficient, modern, and environmentally sustainable wood pellet boiler system. Each apartment includes a heat pump to provide additional heat as needed. (See note.) Cooling: The heat pumps also provide cooling in the summer. The cost of the electricity to run the heat pumps in summer or winter is the responsibility of the tenant. High-efficiency ventilation and fresh air system for air quality. Clothes washer & dryer in-unit. All electric kitchen appliances including dishwasher, refrigerator with ice maker, and combination oven / range. On-call property management. A private storage locker in the basement. Each apartment includes one parking space in the lot closest to the building. There is additional parking in the lot on site.
