I thought the property was run by a smaller company or an individual person or family as it sounds on the listing, and found out it was a company or cooperation that wanted a ton of money for pet deposits ($200 down and $20 monthly fee - I have two so that would be $400 right there) as well as only accepting a Money Order to pay the fee for their application ($25) - they must have not gotten good tenants as most only do that if they have experienced bad checks from renters or bad credit or faulty claims from renters about their ability to pay (I come from a family who rented out small properties so I am very familiar with the process of rental properties). Sorry, but I would rather trust a rental that is run by a group that is more about supporting their renters and generating a great community (family values) verses being only about residual and passive income and profits (cooperate values), especially after the last two years of hardship - as I know they won't kick me out on my bum if finances are running tight. Not to mention, to not have to go through the hassle of doing a money order when I have my own good standing checking account - I work at a retail job where we provide money orders and can see how it makes it more difficult for those who actually have legit checking accounts when they just want to pay a small $25 amount for a service or application. As I tallied up all the expenses and first time payments, I realized it was not worth my time or the headache of jumping through all the hoops this particular rental would cause me as many other rentals closer to my current living situation would equal just as much if not less, include more with their base rental offer, and not have all the extra requirements and hoop jumping. So sadly I said no to this offer and decided to pass on it so someone else could see more value in it then I have.
