Downtown King Street blends historic character with coffee culture (Hatchet Coffee, Local Lion), farm-to-table spots and breweries (Lost Province, Booneshine, Appalachian Mountain Brewery), and indie shops near the Appalachian Theatre. Everyday errands are easy with Publix, Harris Teeter, Food Lion, and Earth Fare, plus Boone Mall; fitness and play revolve around the Watauga County Recreation Center, Planet Fitness, and greenways. Outdoor lovers hit the Boone Greenway, Howard’s Knob, Rocky Knob Mountain Bike Park, and the Blue Ridge Parkway for hiking, biking, fishing, and winter fun; many trails and patios are pet friendly, and families and students mingle at festivals and the Horn in the West outdoor drama.
